Our Instructors
Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the art of Karate and other martial arts and have attained a certain level of expertise to qualify
them as teachers and also mentors.
Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in this martial art and now enjoy sharing their skill
and passing it on to their students. Here are a few of Western Academy Of Martial Arts's instructors and other staff members, starting with Brad White:
Brad White - Chief Instructor & Owner, Western Academy of Martial Arts
Brad began his Martial Arts training 20 years ago in St. Catharines, Ontario. He received his First and Second Degree Black Belts under Sensei Robert Toth
in the art of Japanese Goju Ryu Karate. While there he also studied the Traditional weapons as well. He began Japanese JuJitsu training briefly under
Bill Gill. He was also a heavy tournament participant in those days competing locally and nationally.
13 years ago he moved to BC and it was here where he began training in Okinawan Meibukan Karate. The introduction to this art lead him to the home of
Traditional Karate: Okinawa, Japan. Brad has visited Okinawa for training several times over the years. There he received his Third and Fourth Degree Black
Belts under Yagi Meitasu Sensei, President of the International Meibukan Goju Ryu Karate Association.
2 years ago he began studying Brazillian Jiu Jitsu under Don Whitefield.
His greatest joy is teaching and over the last 10 years has seen over 100 of his adult and junior students achieve their Black Belts.
He enjoys immensely the camaraderie and friendships he has developed over the years with the many parents, students and fellow instructors.
